About

We’re Kayla and Max—a creative couple passionate about sharing the timeless art of glassblowing. With more than 15 years of experience, we present live, narrated demonstrations from our fully equipped mobile glassblowing studio. Through events and fairs nationwide, we bring this captivating craft directly to communities—combining education and entertainment to spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and ignite a love for glass artistry.

Kayla’s Story
Kayla discovered glassblowing while studying marine science at Jacksonville University in Florida. What began as a single art class to fulfill a requirement quickly became a lifelong passion. Mesmerized by molten glass, she changed her major and later graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a concentration in glassblowing. While her path shifted from science to art, her love of the ocean continues to influence her work—fish, conch shells, waves, and other sea-inspired forms frequently appear throughout her sculptures.

Since graduating, Kayla has taken on many roles in the glass world. She has taught classes, performed live demonstrations at fairs and festivals nationwide, and created custom pieces for private events. She has taught at Janke Glass Studios in Atlanta and has led workshops and live demonstrations aboard Celebrity Cruise Lines. Her work has also been featured at the Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville, including a life-size cast-glass replica of a megalodon shark jaw.

Max’s Story
Max’s fascination with glass began in childhood during a family trip to Venice, where he was captivated by the delicate glass animals crafted by master artisans. Years later, he studied glassblowing at Jacksonville University—where he and Kayla first met. Although he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Music Business and a Master of Business Administration, his interest in the craft never faded. Today, Max has returned to glass, apprenticing and creating new work alongside Kayla.

Our Work Together
We founded So Hot Glass in 2023 to bring the ancient art of glassblowing directly to audiences through live, narrated demonstrations. The name “So Hot Glass” is a playful nod to the pronunciation of Kayla’s last name, Socha (SO-ha).

During each demonstration, audiences get an up-close look at the fascinating process of shaping molten glass at over 2,100°F. Blending education with entertainment, we guide viewers through every step as glowing glass is transformed into finished works of art.

Our demonstrations are a natural fit for state and county fairs, festivals, corporate events, weddings, school groups, and community celebrations—creating engaging and memorable experiences for audiences of all ages.
No matter the setting, our mission remains the same: to spark curiosity, inspire creativity, and leave audiences with a lasting appreciation for the artistry and wonder of glassblowing.
