About

We’re Kayla and Max—a creative couple on a mission to share the timeless art of glassblowing. With more than 15 years of experience and a deep passion for this mesmerizing craft, we built a custom mobile glassblowing studio and hit the road. Today, we travel nationwide to bring live glassblowing demonstrations to communities everywhere—sparking curiosity, inspiring creativity, and igniting a love for glass artistry.

Kayla’s Story

Kayla discovered glassblowing while studying marine science at Jacksonville University in Florida. What began as a single class art-requirement quickly became a lifelong passion. Mesmerized by molten glass, she changed her major and later graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts concentrating in glassblowing. Although she changed her major, her love of the ocean still influences her work to this day—fish, conch shells, waves, and other sea-inspired forms appear throughout her sculptures.

Since graduating, Kayla has worn many hats in the glass world: teaching classes, performing at fairs and festivals nationwide, and creating custom pieces for private events. She has taught at Janke Glass Studios in Atlanta and has led workshops and live demonstrations aboard Celebrity Cruise Lines. Her work has also been featured at the Museum of Science and History in Jacksonville, including a life-size cast-glass replica of a megalodon shark jaw.

Max’s Story

Max’s fascination with glass began in childhood during a family trip to Venice, where he became captivated by the delicate glass animals crafted by master artisans. Years later, he studied glassblowing at Jacksonville University—where he and Kayla first met. Although he went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Music Business and a Master of Business Administration, his love for glass never faded. Today, Max is thrilled to return to the craft, apprenticing and creating new work alongside Kayla.

Our Work Together

We founded So Hot Glass in 2023 with a shared goal: to bring this ancient art form directly to the public while building a life rooted in creativity, craftsmanship, and community. The name “So Hot Glass” is a playful nod to the pronunciation of Kayla’s last name, Socha (SO-ha).

From family-friendly demonstrations to custom corporate workshops, we create engaging experiences for audiences of all ages. Watch molten glass glow at 2,100°F as it’s shaped into stunning works of art, all while we guide you through the process with lively, informative narration. Our demonstrations are a perfect fit for state and county fairs, weddings, corporate retreats, school groups, birthday celebrations, and more.

No matter the occasion, our mission is the same: to inspire wonder and leave audiences with lasting memories of the magic of glassblowing.
